Like they do every year, the Réseau Art Nouveau Network (RANN) has announced their annual photo contest for this year’s 6th World Art Nouveau Day!
In 2014 the RANN organised an Art Nouveau Selfie contest. In 2015 the subject of the photo contest was Women in Art Nouveau and in 2016 we focussed on Art Nouveau Details. Last year, the subject was rather difficult: Art Nouveau and Movement. And this year, the subject of the photo contest is:
My Favourite Art Nouveau Architect
On the 10th of June 2018*, the RANN will celebrate World Art Nouveau Day with a photo contest and we are all kindly invited to take part in this international event.
This sixth occasion will be dedicated to the theme My Favourite Art Nouveau Architect. In 2018, we are celebrating the 150th birthday of Charles Rennie Mackintosh (United Kingdom-Scotland), Peter Behrens (Germany), Komor Marcell (Hungary-Serbia) and Lluis Muncunill i Parellada (Spain-Catalonia). But we also commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Otto Wagner and Koloman Moser (Austria). That’s why the 2018 edition of the World Art Nouveau Day will celebrate architects who have marked the Art Nouveau movement.
So, get your cameras ready, and introduce your favourite architect through one of his works by participating in this wonderful photo contest!
World Art Nouveau Day Photo Contest
Send your most beautiful photographs showing whom you consider My favourite Art Nouveau Architect before the 6th of June 2018 midnight to firstname.lastname@example.org, together with your completed entry form.
All photographs received matching the theme will be published on the 10th of June on the RANN Facebook page and submitted to the vote of the Internet Community. You will also be invited to guess which Art Nouveau work and which architect the submitted photographs refer to.
Three Awards will be given:
- The Internet Community Award for the photograph that will have obtained the largest number of “likes” at 6pm
- Mystery Award, for the person who guessed the origin (piece of work, author) of the largest number of photographs
- Jury’s Award, awarded by the RANN secretariat and members of the Network
All photographs will then be published on the RANN Pinterest page.
To discover more World Art Nouveau Day 2018 activities organised by other cities and museums, I have created a Facebook Page for the occasion. If you ‘Like’ that page, you will be updated on all local activities around Europe.
* World Art Nouveau Day is an annual event that takes place on the 10th of June. Why this date? On the 10th of June we are commemorating the death of two great Art Nouveau architects: Catalan Antoni Gaudí and Hungarian Ödön Lechner. The first World Art Nouveau Day was initiated in 2013 by Szecessziós Magazin from Hungary.
